Slip

The girl who walked in
Flashed me an open smile
And then she embraced me
For a little while.
In those slender moments
I had sensed she called
To start another hunt
So I began to crawl...

The world is a stage
Upon which we stand
On every single day
For every single man.
My stage stops for you
And my heart begins to beat.
I reach out my hand
To sweep you off your feet, but

I miss----
The tendons of your wrist
I heard----
The sounds of the Earth
Just rip----
As you slide past my grasp;
Not for the first time,
You slip.

You walk away as I
Mumble parting words
And a ray of light
Pulls you from the herds.
All the other students
You struggle on through them.
You hide your beauty,
A rose closed on a stem.

We fly----
Past the point at which
We tried----
To grasp one another and
I spied----
That same fleeting glance and
Same feeling I get
When I slip.

Please don't let me lose you
Please don't walk on by
I don't want to see that
The chase was just a lie
Please don't walk on by...

Just reach----
Out to my palm and
My speech----
Will become ever strong
And free----
Will our emotions be as
The world stops around us
And we slip----
Our bodies become smothered
And kiss----
Embraced by one another
In bliss----
United by a bond that
Was formed when we let go
And slipped.
